The frequent updates have raised concerns among students and coaching institutes about the consistency and clarity of the registration process.
The latest notice confirms that NEET UG 2025 will be conducted on May 4, 2025, in a pen-and-paper mode across designated centers in India and abroad. However, the registration dates have witnessed multiple changes, adding to the anxiety of applicants.
NTA NEET 2025 Latest Notifications
25 January 2025 – NTA Clarification on Exam Pattern and Duration Revised to Pre-COVID Format
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that NEET UG 2025 will revert to its pre-COVID question paper pattern and duration. The exam will feature 180 compulsory questions (45 each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 in Biology) to be completed in 180 minutes (3 hours). Section B and optional questions introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic have been removed.
24 January 2025 – APAAR ID is not Mandatory for NEET 2025 Registration
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that the APAAR ID (formerly Academic Bank of Credits ID) is not mandatory for NEET UG 2025 registrations. While candidates are encouraged to update their Aadhaar credentials and integrate their APAAR ID for maintaining academic records, it is not a requirement for registration.

17 January 2025 – Merit List to Include BDS and BVSc & AH Admissions
The National Testing Agency (NTA) clarified on January 17, 2025, that NEET UG 2025 scores and the merit list will also be applicable for admissions to BDS and BVSc & AH courses. This follows the regulations set by respective regulatory bodies, in continuation of previous announcements.
16 January 2025 – Eligibility Expanded for Multiple Courses
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that NEET UG 2025 will serve as a common entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses, including MBBS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS, under the Indian and Homeopathic systems of medicine. As per the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, and the Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, NEET UG ensures uniformity in medical admissions across all institutions.
Additionally, candidates aspiring for B.Sc. Nursing under the Military Nursing Service (MNS) at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals must qualify for NEET UG 2025. The examination will be conducted in a single day, single shift, using the OMR-based pen-and-paper mode.
16 January 2025 – NEET 2025 Exam will be in Pen and Paper Mode
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided that NEET (UG)-2025 will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based) on a single day and in a single shift.
