The National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially released the finalised syllabus for the NEET UG 2025 examination, which was published on their website on 17 December 2024.

MBBS aspirants were eagerly waiting for the official syllabus to identify any changes or updates from the previous year. However, upon reviewing the syllabus, many were surprised to find that no significant changes had been made for NEET UG 2025 compared to the previous year.

Additionally, both students and experts noticed that several mistakes from the NEET UG 2024 syllabus were repeated in the NEET UG 2025 version, sparking criticism.

No New Topics Added

The NMC has not introduced any new topics or removed any existing ones from the NEET UG 2025 syllabus.

Repeated Errors

One of the notable errors from the 2024 syllabus, where the frog was mistakenly categorized as an insect, has not been corrected. Despite a clarification issued last year that the frog was mistakenly listed instead of the cockroach, the new syllabus still lists the frog as an insect. In Unit 2 of the Biology syllabus, it mentions “Animal tissues; Morphology, anatomy, and functions of different systems (digestive, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, and reproductive) of an insect (Frog). (Brief account only).”

Missing Terms from Latest NCERT

Unit 1 of the Biology syllabus for NEET UG 2025 includes the topic “Diversity in Living World • What is living?”, which is not part of the latest NCERT syllabus, although it appears in older versions.

Out-of-Syllabus Topics Included

The NEET UG 2025 syllabus also includes topics that were previously considered out of scope, such as Protein Biosynthesis, Tobacco Abuse, Malvaceae, Cruciferae, Leguminoceae, Compositae, and Graminae.
