NEW DELHI: The NTA started the application process on February 7 and will conduct the NEET UG 2025 exam on May 4. Along with the application process and exam date, the NTA has announced a few changes in the rules.
Choice of Examination Center
A list of cities along with their city codes where NEET (UG) 2025 will be conducted is provided in the Information Bulletin. The allotment of centers will mostly be done in one of the candidate’s preferred cities, and there will be no human intervention.
- Candidates can select three Convenient Cities as their Choice of Cities for the exam Centre in order of their priority.
- Choice of Cities will be limited to the State of Permanent Address or State of Present Address only.
- Candidates may select their own city or neighbouring cities in their State of Residence only and not for far away cities in other States.
Exam centres to open three hours before exam begins
The NTA has announced that NEET-UG 2025 exam center will open 3 hour before the start of exam instead of 2 hour previous year.
As per NEET-UG 2025 timing exam will be held between 2PM to 5PM. The exam center will open at 11AM. The additional time will give candidates enough time for entry, security checks before exam.
NEET-UG tie-braking method revised
In case of two or more candidates obtain equal marks/percentile scores in the NEET (UG) – 2025 the inter-se-merit shall be determined as follows:
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics, followed by,
- Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects,
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry, followed by
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics, followed by
- In case, a-g criteria are exhausted and tie still persists, it will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.
No optional question in NEET-UG 2005 exam
NTA announced the change in the exam pattern on January 25, 2025.The optional questions have been removed. Instead of 200 questions, there will now be 180 questions. The total duration of NEET 2025 has been reduced from 200 minutes to 180 minutes or three hours now.
Examination Center reduced
Additionally, the number of domestic NEET UG exam cities has been reduced to 552, five fewer than last year, while international centres remain at 14.
