NEW DELHI: The Georgian Embassy in India officially notified Indian students about recent amendments made by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia concerning the medical education system of Georgia.
According to Article 14 of the Law of Georgia on Medical Practice, graduates of the MD program (equivalent to MBBS in India), known as junior doctors, are authorized to perform the duties of a doctor. Medical programs (MD) at schools/universities in Georgia are accredited/authorized by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE), which is internationally recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME).
The international accreditation ensures that all MD degrees issued in Georgia are recognized worldwide. Medical qualification in Georgia is fully equivalent to an MBBS degree in India. Furthermore, if a certified doctor is not available, a junior doctor may also provide emergency medical care independently.
