NTA NEET UG 2025 Reservation Policy: Key Changes and What You Need to Know

The detailed account of seats reserved for certain category of candidates.

NEW DELHI: The NTA has released NEET UG notification and application process which begins on 07 Feb and ends on 07 March. NEET UG 2025 exam will be held on 04 May 2025. Interested candidates can apply at the official website neet.nta.nic.in.

In this Information Bulletin for NEET UG 2025, The NTA has given detailed account of reserved seats for different class.

Reservation Policy for Admission to MBBS and BDS Course

Indian students belonging to certain categories are selected under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government of India. The categories and the extent of reservation are as follows:

  • GEN- EWS – 10% of seats in every course. The criteria for GEN-EWS will be as per the notifications of the Government of India.
  • OBC- NCL – 27% of seats in every course.
    • OBC-NCL should be listed in the current updated central list of OBC-NCL.
    • OBC-NCL present in the State list but not covered in the central list of OBC-NCL are NOT eligible to claim the reservation.
    • The criteria for OBC-NCL will be as per the notification of the Government of India.
    • Candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled to reservation.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course.
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.
  • Persons with Disability (PwBD) – 5% seats in each of GEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST category seats (Horizontal reservation).

Note:

  • For Candidates claiming the GEN-EWS category, should possess valid GEN-EWS certificate in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India for claiming seats under GEN-EWS category.
  • For Candidates claiming the OBC-NCL category, should possess valid OBC-NCL certificate in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India for claiming seats under OBC-NCL category
  • For Candidates claiming the SC or ST category, should possess valid SC/ST certificate in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India for claiming seats under SC/ST category.
