The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed that the NEET-UG 2025 exam is scheduled to take place on 4th May 2025 in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based). NTA released this announcement through a public notice on 16th January 2025 to provide clarity regarding the exam’s mode, structure and eligibility criteria.
Alongside this announcement, NTA has urged candidates to ensure their Aadhaar details and APPAR IDs are updated before the commencement of the NEET-UG 2025 registration process.

- NEET-UG as a Unified Entrance Exam: NEET-UG 2025 will continue to serve as the standardized entrance test for undergraduate medical education, including MBBS programs, across all medical institutions in India. This is in line with Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
- Extended Scope for Alternative Medicine and Homeopathy: The exam is also applicable for admissions into BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS programs under the Indian System of Medicine. Moreover, it covers BHMS (Homeopathy) courses governed by the National Commission for Homeopathy, ensuring inclusivity across various medical disciplines.
- Eligibility Requirement for B.Sc. Nursing: Military Nursing Service (MNS) aspirants seeking admission to four-year B.Sc. Nursing courses in Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals must qualify for NEET-UG 2025. Their scores will be used for shortlisting eligible candidates.
- Pen-and-Paper Exam Mode Confirmed: NTA has confirmed that NEET-UG 2025 will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based). The exam will take place in a single day and single shift, ensuring a consistent and transparent process for all applicants.
