NEW DELHI: The NTA started the application process on February 7 and will conduct the NEET UG 2025 exam on May 4. Along with the application process and exam date, the NTA has specifically elaborated on the qualifying criteria.
The NTA will prepare the Merit List based on the eligibility criteria, other norms, and relevant guidelines issued by NMC, DGHS, MCC, DCI, and the Ministry of AYUSH/NCIM/CCH/AACCC, as applicable.
The eligibility criteria for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses are as follows
- A candidate must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
- Additionally, the candidate must have secured a place in the Merit List of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for admission to undergraduate medical courses.
- For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC-NCL categories, the minimum required marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination is 40%.
- Candidates with benchmark disabilities, as specified, must obtain a minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination, instead of 50% for Unreserved and GEN-EWS candidates, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates.
- For admission to the BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) course, the candidate must have passed the 10th standard with Urdu, Arabic, or Persian as a subject. Alternatively, the candidate must clear a 10th standard Urdu proficiency test conducted by a university, board, registered society, or an association authorized by the government.
- For admission to the BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery) course, the candidate must have studied Tamil as one of the subjects in the 10th standard or in the Higher Secondary course.
Following candidates are debarred from NEET-UG 2025 exam
- Candidates who have passed Class 12 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for the NEET-UG 2025.
- Study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at Class 12 level also shall not be permissible.
A candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination, the result of which has not been declared, may be provisionally permitted to take up the competitive entrance examination and in case of selection for admission to the Undergraduate Medical Courses, he/she shall not be admitted to that course until he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria as specified above.
