The Application form has to be filled in entirety, and submitted along with the Statement of Purpose (SoP), self-introductory note, and the documents mentioned therein. |
Selection of candidates
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview either in person or via video conferencing as scheduled. Selection will be entirely based on merit.
- Candidates who are selected will be recommended for provisional admission for the academic year 2024-25.
- The University retains the right to admit or not admit candidates without providing any reason.
- The University reserves the right to establish criteria for short-listing candidates in accordance with its norms and regulations, which may be amended over time.
- Filling out the application form and participating in the entrance test/interview does not guarantee admission to the University.
- Selected candidates will be notified via email.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Requirements for Master’s Program for Indian and International Students
The minimum requirement is a 55% score, a 2.2/4.0 GPA, or an equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) in an undergraduate degree.
Students from all disciplines, including Humanities, Sciences, Engineering, Management, Law, etc., are eligible to apply for any program, but may apply to no more than two programs.
A Self-Introduction/Bio-Note Statement (not exceeding 250 words) is required.
Eligibility and Selection Requirements for PhD Admission at Nalanda University for Indian and International Students
For full-time students, the doctoral program is fully residential and includes a stipend of 35,000 INR per month.
Nalanda University offers a 4-year doctoral program for both national and international students.
Full-time students are required to reside on campus.
Part-time students will not be provided with accommodation, except during contact programs/workshops, which will not exceed seven days.
Essential Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must possess a Master’s degree with a minimum of 65% marks or an equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA), preferably including a dissertation, or an M.Phil. Degree with 65% marks or equivalent GPA.
- Applicants are required to submit a Letter of Self Introduction and two Letters of Recommendation/References.
- Applicants must provide a Statement of Purpose (SoP) that clearly outlines their reasons for choosing the course/program and Nalanda University.
- A detailed Research Proposal must be submitted, which will undergo a plagiarism check.
- Applicants need to provide evidence of any research work, such as writing samples or published papers (at least 2 to 3).
- International applicants must submit proof of language proficiency, such as:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - Any other recognized international English proficiency test
- Alternatively, they can provide evidence of having completed a full-time degree-level course taught and assessed entirely in English.
