New Delhi: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has implemented a one-year mandatory bond service policy for MBBS and PG medical students starting from the 2025–26 academic session. According to the IPU Admission Brochure 2025, students pursuing MBBS and PG programs must complete a one-year bond service after finishing their course, which includes the internship period. During this time, students are required to serve in medical institutions under the Government of the National Capital Territory (GNCT) of Delhi.
As per the new policy, authorities require MBBS and PG students, including those in super-specialty courses, to pay ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh respectively at the time of admission. They will forfeit this amount if they choose to skip the mandatory bond service. Aspirants and doctors’ associations have strongly opposed this decision.

Who will be harmed or benefited?
NEET PG bond policies usually come in three types: service bonds, seat-leaving bonds, and bank guarantees. Until now, Delhi was one of the few states without a service bond. But last year, the Delhi Health Department announced that starting from the 2025–26 academic session, medical students in Delhi will be required to complete a mandatory service bond.
