NEET UG 2025: The National Testing Agency has issued NEET UG 2025 guidelines, but it has not yet announced the registration start date. In India, students view admission to government colleges for MBBS, with low fees and quality education, as a significant achievement. Students striving to fulfill their dream of studying medicine prioritize securing seats in government colleges.
The National Medical Commission reports a total of 799 medical colleges in the country, offering over 1,08,000 MBBS seats. However, only 386 of these colleges are government-run, providing 55,880 MBBS seats. Every year, more than 11-12 lakh students qualify NEET UG, and last year alone, 13 lakh students cleared the exam.
What is the required NEET UG score for admission to government medical colleges?
Experts suggest that general category students will need to score at least 650+ marks in NEET UG 2025 to secure admission to a government medical college for MBBS. For reserved category students, it is challenging to gain admission to government colleges with less than 600 marks. To get into the top medical colleges in the country, a score above 700 marks will be necessary. As a result, over 10 lakh students who qualify NEET UG have private medical colleges as their only option.
Government Medical Colleges MBBS Fees
MBBS fees in government medical colleges across the country range from approximately ₹6,000 to ₹40,000-₹50,000 per year. AIIMS Delhi has the lowest MBBS fees. The 10 AIIMS institutions in India collectively offer around 2,040 MBBS seats, with 125 seats allocated to AIIMS Delhi. Additionally, state government medical colleges provide over 45,000 MBBS seats, while the remaining seats are in autonomous colleges.
