Named after its first benefactor, the Puritan clergyman John Harvard, it stands as the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States and is globally renowned for its academic prestige. Harvard University comprises ten academic faculties, including the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. While the Faculty of Arts and Sciences offers a diverse range of academic disciplines for both undergraduates and graduates, the remaining faculties primarily confer graduate degrees, with a focus on professional programs.
