Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently visited Saran district during his Pragati Yatra, where he initiated several development projects in Chapra and inaugurated a government medical college and hospital.
The state government has constructed Chhapra Medical College at a cost of Rs 425 crore to offer advanced health facilities to the people of the Saran division. CM Nitish Kumar officially inaugurated the medical college on Wednesday. Jai Prakash University in Chhapra provided the land for the construction of the facility.
According to TOI, Chhapra Medical College will offer 100 MBBS seats and a BSc in Nursing program with 60 seats. The college and hospital will have a capacity of 500 beds, providing treatment not only to patients from Saran but also from the entire division, including Siwan and Gopalganj districts. Additionally, the facility will include a rest house for attendants.
Chhapra Medical College and Hospital has been built on the land of JP University, prompting the administration to establish a separate connectivity route from NH-31 (previously NH-19). Student enrollment for the new Government Medical College at Chhapra will commence soon, with academic sessions beginning shortly thereafter.
The Health Department has already appointed 17 nurses and 7 clerks for the medical college hospital, and all have been instructed to assume their roles at the new facility. Currently, Bihar has 11 government medical college hospitals and 8 private hospitals.
This Pragati Yatra by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is anticipated to usher in a new era of development for Chhapra and the surrounding areas, generating significant enthusiasm among local residents.
