Eligibility Criteria
Below, we have mentioned the Eligibility criteria for the BAMS course in Tamil Nadu.
- The candidates must be an Indian citizen.
- Applicants must have qualified for the NEET UG Entrance Examination.
- Candidates must have domicile status in Tamil Nadu.
- Additionally, candidates from other states who have studied continuously in Tamil Nadu from Class VI to Class XII will be considered under the Open Category.
- Candidates must have Completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology and English must be a compulsory subject.
- The minimum marks required are 50% for the General category, 40% for SC/ST/OBC, and 45% for Physically Handicapped candidates.
- Candidates must be at least 17 years old at the time of admission or turn 17 by December 31st of the admission year.
Eligibility Criteria for NRI/OCI/PIO Candidates
- Candidates must have scored at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in their class 12 or equivalent exam.
- Candidates must hold a valid passport.
- NRI/OCI candidates are exempted from the domicile requirement applicable to resident Indian candidates.
- Applicants must have qualified for the NEET UG Entrance Examination.
- Candidates applying under NRI sponsorship must have a real blood relation to the financial supporter, such as a mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, or uncle.
Counselling Procedure

Step 1: Online Registration
- Go to the official website of the Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (DHTE).
- Register online by entering your personal details and setting up a username and password.
- Submit the registration form to complete the process.
Step 2: Payment of Counselling Fee
- Pay the required counseling fee online through the available payment methods (credit/debit card, net banking, etc).
- Keep the receipt or transaction ID for future reference.
Step 3: Verification of Documents
- Upload the required documents including educational certificates, NEET UG scorecard and domicile proof.
- Make sure that the documents are clear and in the specified format.
Step 4: Choice Filling and Locking

Step 6: Reporting to the Allotted College

Step 7: Upgradation and Additional Rounds
- If the candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seat or college, they can choose to participate in additional rounds for seat upgradation.

Seat Allotment
The seat allotment process involves multiple rounds:
First Round
- Seats are allotted based on rank in NEET-UG rank and preferences filled.

Second Round
- Vacant seats from the first round are offered.
- Candidates who were not allotted seats in the first round or wish to upgrade can participate in the second round.
Mop-Up Round
- A final round to fill any remaining seats.

Security Money
The candidates must pay security money through a demand draft favouring the Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (DHTE). The Demand Draft will be payable at the nodal office in Tamil Nadu. The security money will be returned to the candidates after completing the admission procedure to Ayurvedic Medical College. The Security money will be paid at the time of the Document Verification.
